Data breaches happen everyday. But chances are you don’t hear about them. Only major breaches make the news. For example, the Marriott International data breach may have exposed personal information, including payment information, of up to 500 million guests.
The Marriott hack is one of the largest data breaches ever disclosed, measured by the number of individuals potentially affected. Only a 2013 breach of Yahoo that affected three billion people, nearly the entirety of Yahoo’s user base, may be bigger.
But these are just examples of network weaknesses that highlight the need for more evolved cyber industry professionals. Without their vigilant protection, hackers will learn new ways to infiltrate corporate networks and access customer’s names, addresses, social security numbers and credit card information. Corporations, churches, schools and even the country need these unsung heroes to protect our networks. But we need more of them.
Luckily, training to become a cyber security pro is becoming more realistic and affordable.
